Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Daredevils (7th April 2010)

Result: Kolkata Knight Riders won by 14 runs

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat first. Ganguly (56) and Gayle (40) have given a good start to the innings while Tiwary and Mathews played some nice stokes towards the end to put a fighting total of 181/3 for Daredevils to chase. After losing Warner's wicket early Gambhir and Sewhag steady the innings but after their departure rest batsman failed to keep momentum. Good fielding and bowling from KKR, restricted Daredevils in 167 and winning the match by 14 runs.

Ganguly wss the Man of the Match for scoring 56 runs and for some amazing ground fielding. Kamaal catch award went to 'Sourav Ganguly' and Maximum sixes award to 'Virender Sehwag'.


Numbers that mattered, Match 39

13  The number of run-outs effected by Delhi in the tournament – most by any side. Interestingly Kolkata also managed two run-outs. In their previous 9 games, they had managed just one!

34  Number of balls taken by Sehwag to score his fifty – his slowest fifty in IPL. He had taken 27 balls for his fifty against Deccan at Hyderabad in 2008, which was his previous slowest.

99  Sehwag and Gambhir added 99 runs for the second wicket – first instance of a 99-run partnership in IPL history.

181 Kolkata’s total was their highest against Delhi, beating the previous best of 154 for 3 at Durban in 2009.

200  The fifth four of Gambhir’s innings was his 200th in Twenty20 cricket. He became first Indian and seventh batsman overall to do so.

400  The fourth six of Kolkata innings (hit by Manoj Tiwary) was the 400th six hit in IPL 2010.
