2nd Semifinal - Deccan Chargers vs Chennai Superkings (22nd April 2010)

Result: Chennai Super Kings won by 38 runs

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first and scored only 142/7 in 20 overs. Top order failed again but Badrinath, Dhoni and Anirudha played watchful innings to put their team into a respectable position. But Chargers failed complete on chasing a small target and all out for 102 in 20 th overs. Good spin bowling and a 4 wickets from Doug Bollinger helped CSK to enter the final of IPL3 to be played on 25th April 2010 with Mumbai Indians.

Doug Bollinger was the MoM for his match-winning figures of 4/13. Raina got the kamaal catch award and Anirudha Srikanth got award for 'Maximum sixes'.

Interestingly it was Deccan, who held the previous record with 145-7 against Delhi Daredevils at Delhi on April 18 (Kings XI Punjab tied the match with Chennai [and then won in Super-Over] after making 136-8 at Chennai on March 21)

91 Number of wickets taken by Albie Morkel in the Twenty20 cricket- most by any bowler. He was earlier at level with Yasir Arafat with 90 wickets.

50 Pragyan Ojha became the second bowler after fellow teammate RP Singh to take 50 wickets in the IPL.

38 Number of dismissals made by Adam Gilchrist in the IPL- most by any keeper in the tournament’s history. He was earlier at level with Delhi’s Dinesh Karthik with 37 dismissals.

29 Number of wickets taken by Deccan Chargers in Powerplay – most by any side in this IPL.

26 Number of dot balls played by Deccan batsmen out of the 36 bowled in the Powerplay.

12.06 Average balls per innings for which Gilchrist has stayed on the wicket during this IPL.

11.3 Overs taken by Deccan Chargers for their fifty – the slowest fifty in this IPL. It was also Deccan’s slowest fifty in all IPL matches.

2 Doug Bollinger became the second bowler to bowl two maiden-overs in the tournament after Deccan’s Chaminda Vaas.

1 Doug Bollinger’s figures of 4-13 are the best figures by a bowler in an IPL semi-final / final. The previous best was Anil Kumble’s 4-16 also against Deccan in 2009 final.
