Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Daredevils (25th March 2010)



Result: Delhi Daredevils won by 17 runs

Bangalore Royal Challengers won the toss and elected to field first. Daredevils started their innings with some hard hitting from Warner and Sewhag. Debutant Kedar Yadav scored his first IPL fifty and good support from AB De Villiers help them put a fighting total of 183/4 in front of RCB to win the match. RCB started with a high note through Kallis and Pandey but after their departure, lost quick wickets. Poor shot from Uthappa, three run outs and some brilliant fielding pulled Daredevils back to the game,  winning it by 17 runs.

Numbers that mattered, Match 20

  • 50 Kedar Jadhav made an unbeaten 50 on his IPL debut. He thus, became only the fourth Delhi batsman to hit a fifty in his debut innings. The three others beofre him were Gautam Gambhir, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner.
  • 12  Number of sixes hit by Robin Uthappa in IPL 2010 - most by any batsman. He was earlier on par with Matthew Hayden and Yusuf Pathan with 11 sixes.
  • 4  Number of half-century stands put on by the opening pair of Jacques Kallis and Manish Pandey in five games. The sequence: 74, 93*, 85, 28 and 71.
  • 3  Number of batsmen who got run-out in the Bangalore innings – most in IPL 2010. This was the third such instance in this edition.
  • 1  The defeat by 17 runs was Bangalore’s first loss at home in IPL 2010.
