Mumbai Indian won the toss and elected to field first. Chennai Superkings started well and put a fight total of 180/2 in 20 overs. Quick strikes from Hayden and brilliant fifty from Raina and Badrinath help them score a challenging totals for Mumbai Indians. MI started the chase with some master strokes of Sikhar Dhawan. Sachin played a memorable innings of 72 with well supported quick runs by Pollard and Bravo to win the match with one over to spare.
Sachin Tendulkar was the Man of the match for his scintillating innings.

- 2 Suresh Raina became the second batsman (after Adam Gilchrist) to aggregate 1,000 runs in IPL.
- 3 Man-of-the-Match awards won by Sachin Tendulkar in IPL 2010. He has now equalled Jacques Kallis’ tally of MoM awards.
- 72 Sachin Tendulkar posted his highest score in Twenty20s.
- 142 The third wicket unbroken partnership of 142 runs between Suresh Raina and S Badrinath was the second highest partnership for any wicket in all IPL games, after the 155-run unbroken partnership for the first wicket between Adam Gilchrist and VVS Laxman against Mumbai Indians in 2008.
- 181 Mumbai Indians registered their highest successful chase in the IPL.
- 200 The fourth six in Mumbai’s innings (hit by Sachin Tendulkar) was the 200th six in the IPL 2010. Interestingly, this was Tendulkar’s first six in five innings in this edition.
- 800 Tendulkar’s run-tally in IPL after the match – highest for a Mumbai Indian batsman. He went past Sanath Jayasuriya’s tally of 767 runs.
