Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Superkings (23rd March 2010)


Result: Bangalore Royal Challengers won by 36 runs

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to field. Royal Challengers scored 171/5, thanks to some dashing shots from Robin Uthappa towards end of the innings. Kallis was finally dismissed by Bajaji but dropping Uthappa twice was costlier for CSK. CSK started the innings with the positive note, but run out of Hayden turned to be crucial for them. Tight bowling & fielding kept pressure on CSK batsman losing wickets in regular intervals finally managing to score 135 runs in 20 overs.

Robin Uthappa is the Man of the Match for his blistering knock of 68 in just 38 balls.

  • 283 Kallis’ batting average in the tournament. He was finally dismissed for the first time in 5 outings. 
  • 52 Number of runs scored by the Royal Challengers Bangalore batsmen in last three overs. 
  • 11 Number of sixes hit by Robin Uthappa in the tournament – that’s one more than the number of fours he has hit till now in IPL 2010. 
  • Muralidaran’s 3 wickets in the match made him the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, taking him ahead of Deccan Charger’s Chaminda Vaas. 
  • 5.74 Anil Kumble’s economy rate in the matches he has captained RCB – the best for any captain in IPL. 
  • 2 R Vinay Kumar became second bowler in IPL 2010 after KKR’s Angelo Mathews to take four wickets in a match.
