Result: Deccan Chargers won by 31 runs

Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat first and scored a commendable total of 190 runs in 20 overs with the superb half century from Symonds. Chasing the mammoth total Chennai Superkings lost wickets in regular intervals finishing 159/9. Morkel Scored 42 not out the main highlight of the innings.

Chaminda Vaas is the MoM for his match winning spell of 3/21.

  • 190 Deccan made their highest score against Chennai Super Kings, beating 169 for four they made at Durban in 2009.
  • 50 Pragyan Ojha completed his 50 wickets in the Twenty20 games, when he took the wicket of S Badrinath. He became only the third Indian after Irfan Pathan and RP Singh to reach the 50-wicket mark in Twenty20s.
            The three sixes took Andrew Symonds’ career tally of sixes in the Twenty20 matches to exactly 50.
  • 31 Deccan Chargers won this match by 31 runs – which is the second largest win for them in the IPL. Their biggest ever still remains by 53 runs against Rajasthan Royal at Kimberley in 2009.
  • 6 The first 6 batsmen - who batted during Deccan Chargers innings – had a strike-rate of over 100. This was the second such instance for Deccan Chargers. The previous one was against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur in 2008.
  • 2 Chaminda Vaas has now bowled a maiden over in successive matches. He had also bowled a maiden over against Kolkata Knight Riders at Mumbai in the first game of this edition.
  • 1 Adam Giclhrist on 15, completed his 1,000 runs in the IPL. He is first batsman to perform this feat
